For the third year in a row, the Cap10K was canceled. π I signed up for the first time in 2019 and as luck would have it, there was severe weather the morning of the race resulting is a cancelled event. The Covid-19 Pandemic kept the 2020 event from happening and now in 2021 the pandemic is still a factor. So just like last year, I ran the Virtual Cap10K.

The drive-thru packet pickup was actually pretty cool. π Very organized! After following the winding route around the parking lot, cars were split into 6 lanes. The first attendant quickly gathered your bib and shirt. Then you roll up to the next spot for the second attendant to hand you a giant swag bag! ππ

Thatβs some SERIOUS swag! π Including finisher tape and chalk for a proper virtual finish! π€©

My sweet runner friends helped make this virtual race so much fun! They also had a virtual 10K run to complete so we made our own βeventβ of it! π

All bibbed up and ready to run! π

Even though itβs an Austin race, we chose a course route in San Antonio. We started at the Walker Ranch Park Trailhead and made our way to Phil Hardberger Park, with Melissa leading the way! π

We ran across the newly opened SkyWalk at Hardberger Park. π Itβs an elevated walkway (18 feet off the ground) and the views are incredible!

The SkyWalk runs parallel to the Land Bridge, also fairly new to the city (opened just a few months before the Skywalk) and it allows both people and wildlife to safely cross over Wurzbach Parkway while connecting more park trails.

The park trails were beautiful and made a great course for our virtual races. π³

Crossing my virtual finish line π with my friends was so much fun! π₯³

We made the most of our virtual racing but hopefully I can finally experience the in-person Cap10K in 2022. ππ»
