I’m running for wine! 🍷 …again! 🥰 Back to Spicewood Vineyards for the Run in Texas Spicewood Half Marathon. This is my 2nd year to run this race. Last year, while my Hubby was deployed I went by myself so this time around I brought the fam along for a Runcation ! 🧳

Sunrise on our early morning drive from the Hampton Inn on the Lake in Marble Falls. They offer a special rate and even a breakfast-to-go pack to Spicewood race participants. 💝

I arrived at the vineyard bright and early for packet pickup and this Church Lady welcome sign gave me the giggles! 😆

Before the race they have a fun costume contest and the costumes never disappoint! Last year I participated because I was dressed in a snowman costume. ⛄️

This year, I wasn’t in costume but I did wear a fun holiday outfit with some wine themed socks. 😉

It was a cold morning! 🥶 Runners gathered for the National Anthem and pre-race briefing.

The race start was delayed about 10 minutes because the restroom lines were still very long and they wanted to make sure that the 10K and Half Marathon runners were ready. The 5K had a later start.

Although it’s mostly a road race, the first 3/4 mile is through the vineyard and it’s a bit of a trail race through there. But it’s beautiful. 😍

There were several cattle guard crossings and plenty of livestock roaming around. 🐂

There were also hills! 😳 This is one of the first hills, and also one of the smaller ones.

So while running this race last year, around mile 5-ish, I was speeding downhill. Then suddenly I tripped, stumbled and went rolling down the hill. Did I mention I was dressed as a snowman? 🤦🏻♀️ So every time I see this street sign on the course, I can’t stop laughing at myself. Thankfully, this time around I didn’t FALL! 🙏🏻

There was a bit of a water crossing. It wasn’t deep at all but it was a bit slick so I had to proceed with caution. 😬

Did I mention the hills? 😧 …or the strong winds? 😵💫

Almost to the top of this hill and Wow! I was up in the clouds! ☁️ 👀

As challenging as the course is, it’s also very beautiful. 💙 I braved the gusts of cold winds that were trying to slow me down and completed the race, without incident this time. 😊

The post-race meal was delicious and filling! 😋 Pulled pork, sausage, beans, green beans and a tortilla and this finisher wine glass filled with wine! 🍷

My family is so proud of me and I’m so thankful for their love and support! ❤️
